Sound Level Calibrator

A Sound Level Calibrator, also known as an Acoustic Calibrator, is a hand-held device that produces an audible tone with extremely precise level and frequency. The Calibrator is placed over the meter's microphone before noise measurements are taken, and the reading is either manually confirmed by the user or automatically by the metre. Calibration checks on metres are always a good idea, and for many applications, they are required. Before taking measurements, most rules, such as the Noise at Work Regulations, require that the metre be calibrated. These calibrations should be documented to show that the proper processes were followed.
