Thread lockers and retainers are one-component adhesives that are applied to the threads of fasteners. To prevent loosening, leakage, and corrosion, thread lockers are placed to the threads of screws, bolts, and other fasteners. Thread lockers are thixotropic fluids, which means they stay thick and viscous unless they're shaken or otherwise disturbed. As a result, after shaking and applying an adhesive to a screw thread, it cures sufficiently to endure brief periods of stress generated by vibration or shock.
