Two-point bore gauges depend on the operator finding the true diameter by rocking the gauge, so readings can vary from person to person. The Mitutoyo 468-163 uses three self-centring anvils spaced at 120°, which automatically locate inside the bore and measure the true inside diameter across a 10-12 mm range.

The contact points are TiN (titanium nitride) coated for durability and impact resistance, and they allow measurement right to the bottom of a blind hole. A ratchet stop applies constant measuring force, while the large LCD provides readings to 0.001 mm. The Digimatic data output allows measurement values to be transferred to an SPC or data collection system.

The Mitutoyo 468-163 is suitable for inspecting bores, bushings, cylinders, and blind holes in drilled and bored components. Its functions include zero/ABS setting, presetting, data hold, and data output, along with low-battery and error alarms. An optional extension rod can be used for measuring deeper holes.
