The Rubert 552 is a precision reference specimen combining two patches on one electroformed nickel plate: specimens 527 + 521. It serves as an ISO 5436-1 type B/C material measure for checking and calibrating surface measuring instruments, letting several roughness values from the range be checked without changing plates. It is offered in two versions: 552E, with a hard nickel-boron top layer, and 552X, without a top layer.
