With RSm = 8 µm, Pt = 0.2 µm and Ra = 0.06 µm (2.36 µin), the Rubert 542 is a sine wave precision reference specimen classed as ISO 5436-1 type B/C. Laboratories use it for checking and calibrating surface measuring instruments. It is offered in two versions: 542E, with a hard nickel-boron top layer, and 542X, without a top layer.
