A range of mechanical piston variable area flow meters with choices for both visual and electronic output is called the Series PI Piston In-Line Variable Area Flowmeter. Digital LCD versions with pointer or numeric displays for inscribed scale are available for the Series PI. It provides options for mechanical switch output as well as electronic output, including HART® protocol and 4–20 mA analog output. It can handle liquids with viscosities up to 650 centistokes and has pipe sizes ranging from 1/4" to 1" (8 to 25 mm) and flows of 0.25 to 30 GPM (5 to 100 LPM).
