 Product Description

Small internal bores require accurate positioning and repeatable measurement. The Mitutoyo 568-965 is designed for precision inspection across the .275–.5" (6.985–12.7 mm) range, using three dedicated Borematic gauges rather than interchangeable heads.

The complete set includes Mitutoyo 568-461, 568-462, and 568-463. The 568-461 covers .275–.350" (6.985–8.89 mm), the 568-462 covers .350–.425" (8.89–10.795 mm), and the 568-463 covers .425–.500" (10.795–12.7 mm). Each gauge is a complete measuring instrument with its own ABSOLUTE digital display.

The three-point self-centering measuring method helps position the measuring contacts consistently inside the bore. This is useful when inspecting small bushings, fuel-system components, hydraulic valve bores, instrument fittings, and other precision internal diameters.

Each individual gauge provides .00005" (0.001 mm) resolution and ±.00025" accuracy. The electrostatic capacitance ABSOLUTE encoder helps retain the established origin during normal battery operation and provides unlimited response without over-speed errors.

The 8.5 mm LCD display rotates through 330° and supports inch/metric measurement. TiN-coated measuring contact points are designed for repeated use and can reach close to the bottom of suitable blind holes.

Inspection functions include ZERO/ABS, 2-point preset, GO/NO-GO judgement with user-defined upper and lower limits, judgement zoom, data hold, error alarm, low-battery alert, and function lock.

The gauges also support Digimatic SPC data output. Measurement results can be transferred using SPC cables 905338 or 905409, USB Input Tool Direct 06ADV380F, or U-WAVE-T wireless connectivity through the appropriate cable.

The set includes setting rings 177-179 and 177-283, allowing the individual gauges to be mastered against their applicable reference sizes.

Unlike the Mitutoyo 568-928 interchangeable head set, the 568-965 provides three separate complete gauges. This means operators can use different gauge sizes simultaneously without changing heads or re-mastering an interchangeable display unit.

Key Benefits

  • .275–.5" complete coverage: Three dedicated gauges cover the full 6.985–12.7 mm range.

  • Three independent instruments: 568-461, 568-462, and 568-463 each have their own display and measuring head.

  • No head swapping: Change between bore sizes by selecting the appropriate complete gauge.

  • Three-point self-centering: Helps maintain consistent positioning during small-bore inspection.

  • ±.00025" accuracy: Each individual gauge is specified for accurate measurement across its respective range.

  • .00005" resolution: Supports detailed internal diameter inspection.

  • Blind-hole capability: TiN-coated measuring contacts can reach close to the bottom of suitable blind holes.

  • GO/NO-GO judgement: Set upper and lower tolerance limits for quick inspection decisions.

  • SPC data output: Transfer measurement readings for digital inspection records and quality-control workflows.

  • Multiple operators: Three independent gauges can be used at different inspection stations without sharing one display unit.

Who This Product Is Best For

The Mitutoyo 568-965 is suitable for inspection teams that regularly measure small precision bores and need multiple dedicated gauges available at the same time.

Typical users include:

  • Precision machine shops

  • Hydraulic component repair workshops

  • Fuel-system service companies

  • Aerospace MRO teams

  • Quality-control laboratories

  • CNC machining facilities

  • Instrument component manufacturers

  • Precision engineering workshops

Typical applications include fuel-injector bodies, nozzle components, hydraulic valve spool bores, small bronze and steel bushings, instrument fittings, precision sleeves, and other small internal diameters within the .275–.5" range.

The complete unit format is particularly useful when several operators or inspection stations need access to different bore sizes without exchanging measuring heads.

How to Use / How It Works

1. Select the correct gauge.
Choose the 568-461, 568-462, or 568-463 according to the bore diameter being inspected.

2. Master the gauge.
Place the selected gauge in its appropriate setting ring, establish the reference using the ZERO/ABS or preset function, and confirm the displayed reference value.

3. Measure the bore.
Operate the snap-open lever, insert the measuring head into the bore, and release it. The three measuring contacts self-centre inside the bore.

4. Check the tolerance.
Use the displayed measurement to assess the bore size. For production or inspection workflows, set upper and lower tolerance limits to activate GO/NO-GO judgement.

5. Inspect and record.
For larger inspection tasks, take measurements at appropriate positions or depths. Use data hold for manual recording or transfer readings through compatible SPC connectivity.

Use the matching setting ring whenever the gauge requires re-mastering or verification according to the inspection procedure.

 Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in the Mitutoyo 568-965 set?

The set includes three complete Borematic gauges: 568-461, 568-462, and 568-463, plus setting rings 177-179 and 177-283.

What bore range does the Mitutoyo 568-965 cover?

The complete set covers internal diameters from .275–.5" (6.985–12.7 mm).

What are the individual gauge ranges?

The 568-461 covers .275–.350", the 568-462 covers .350–.425", and the 568-463 covers .425–.500".

What accuracy do the gauges provide?

Each individual gauge is specified at ±.00025" accuracy with .00005" (0.001 mm) resolution.

Can the 568-965 measure blind holes?

Yes. The TiN-coated measuring contacts can reach close to the bottom of suitable blind holes, depending on the bore geometry.

Does the set support GO/NO-GO inspection?

Yes. The individual Borematic gauges support user-set upper and lower tolerance limits and GO/NO-GO judgement with a zoom display.

Can measurement data be transferred to a computer?

Yes. Compatible options include SPC cables 905338 and 905409, USB Input Tool Direct 06ADV380F, and U-WAVE-T wireless connectivity through the appropriate cable.

What is the difference between the 568-965 and 568-928?

The 568-965 is a complete unit set containing three independent gauges, each with its own display. The 568-928 is an interchangeable head set that uses one display unit with multiple measuring heads.

Should I choose the 568-965 or an interchangeable head set?

The 568-965 is designed for users who want separate complete gauges that can be used independently. An interchangeable head set may be more suitable when one display unit is sufficient and different bore ranges need to be covered with interchangeable heads.
