The Hioki CM3291 is a slim, pocket-size 2000 A AC True RMS clamp meter designed for rugged field measurement and electrical troubleshooting. Its clamp design allows current to be measured around a single conductor without opening the circuit, helping technicians work efficiently on electrical panels, motors and equipment.
The CM3291 measures 42 A, 420 A and 2000 A AC across a 40 Hz to 1 kHz frequency range. True RMS measurement provides reliable readings on AC loads where waveforms may be distorted, including applications involving variable-speed drives, LED lighting and switching power supplies.
In addition to AC current measurement, the CM3291 provides resistance measurement from 420 Ω to 42 MΩ and continuity testing, along with data hold and automatic power-saving functions. Its 46 mm jaw, with a jaw opening of approximately 65 W × 13 D mm, accommodates larger conductors while maintaining a compact form factor.
At approximately 16 mm thick and 103 g, the meter is designed for portable field use. It operates for approximately 70 hours from a CR2032 coin cell and is designed to withstand a 1 m drop. The operating temperature range is −25 to 65 °C.
For applications requiring higher current capacity or a larger conductor opening, the optional CT6280 flexible sensor can extend measurement capability to 4200 A on conductors up to 130 mm, subject to compatible instrument configuration.
The CM3291 has a CAT IV 300 V / CAT III 600 V safety rating. It does not support Bluetooth or the Z3210 wireless adapter.
