The Flexbar 14009 Universal Spring Winder makes tension or compression springs and electrical coils of any length or inside diameter without setting up special machinery. The wire is fed through the handle and spindle and between a steel disc and a plastic disc, a mandrel is gripped with the wire end in a lathe chuck, and tension is set with the knurled nut.
