Product Overview

The Dwyer 8904 is a compact integral vane thermo-anemometer designed for quick air velocity and temperature measurements at grilles, diffusers, fan outlets and other HVAC air-moving points. Its 2-7/8-inch integral vane is built directly into the instrument, eliminating the need to carry a separate probe or cable.

The meter measures air velocity from 80 to 5900 ft/min (0.4-30 m/s) with ±2% accuracy. It simultaneously measures air temperature from -10 to 50°C (14 to 122°F), providing two key readings for HVAC testing and balancing in one handheld instrument.

The Dwyer 8904 includes data hold for freezing a displayed measurement, along with minimum, maximum and average functions for monitoring changing airflow. A two-hour averaging function helps provide a more representative measurement when airflow fluctuates over an extended observation period.

Velocity response is approximately 1 second, while temperature response is approximately 60 seconds. The 34 x 40 mm display provides a clear view of measurements, and selectable velocity units include mph, km/h, knots, ft/min and m/s.

For documentation and reporting, the 8904 provides an RS-232 serial interface operating at 2400 bps for PC data export. The meter operates from a 9 V alkaline battery with approximately 100 hours of battery life. Weighing only 150 g, it is designed for portable field use and is supplied with a carrying case and manual.
