Because its scale sits at 1.75–1.80, the 10/893/0 is aimed at liquids denser than water, comparing their relative density with water. At 335 mm overall, the 10/893/0 carries 0.0005 SG graduations across its 1.75–1.80 span and is adjusted at 60 °F (15.6 °C). The 10/893/0 follows the pattern of hydrometers in ISO 650 and the superseded 1960 edition of BS 718.
