A Bellows Unit Assembly (BUA) and detachable pressure housings make up each DPU. Flexible bellows are fastened to a centerplate inside the BUA. In twin-bellows types, a dual valve firmly connects the movable bellows.
A drive arm rotating on the end of a sealed torque tube makes contact with the valve stem in the centerplate. A pure, noncorrosive liquid with a low freezing point fills the bellows. Tension is provided against applied forces by a range spring assembly.
When the bellows is in action, pressure is applied to both sides. The bellows move in response to any pressure differential until the force is balanced by the spring action (range springs).
