The AlphaLab EM2 Earth Magnetometer detects small point-to-point variations in the Earth's field caused by buried magnetic masses. Unlike a metal detector, its signal is not weakened by rock, soil, mud or water, and it can sense a magnetisable mass at a depth of up to 40 times its diameter. With 1 nT resolution, it is used to locate and estimate the depth of buried targets, gauge minerals such as black sand, and measure inside DC solenoids.
