The R40 Series is a one-piece fixed infrared sensor, with optics and electronics sealed together in an IP65 (NEMA 4) ANSI 304 stainless steel housing. Unlike the fibre optic R60, it needs no separate electronics module, which keeps installation simple. Photodiode or thermopile detectors and a wide choice of spectral bands, from 1.0 μm to 8–14 μm, cover targets from -20 °C up to 3000 °C.

- Backlit 5-digit LCD for viewing and setting parameters on site
- 12-pin cable with 0/4 to 20 mA output, RS485 for up to 32 sensors, alarm relay and external input
- Built-in alignment laser on most models (not P3 and F4)
- Connection cable from 1 m up to 100 m
