Product Description
The Mitutoyo 568-969 Digital ABS Borematic Bore Gauge Set is designed for precise internal diameter inspection across the 3–4" (76.2–101.6 mm) range. The complete unit set includes two dedicated Borematic gauges: model 568-472 for 3.0–3.5" (76.2–88.9 mm) and model 568-473 for 3.5–4.0" (88.9–101.6 mm). Each gauge has its own digital display, so there is no need to change measuring heads when moving between size ranges.
Both gauges use three-point self-centring contact to measure internal diameters consistently. With ±.0003" (±6 µm) accuracy and .00005" (0.001 mm) resolution, the set is suitable for checking large precision bores where diameter, taper and ovality need to be monitored.
The ABSOLUTE encoder retains the established origin during the battery life and is designed to prevent over-speed errors. TiN-coated measuring contact points provide durable contact surfaces and can reach close to the bottom of blind holes.
Each gauge features an 8.5 mm LCD with a 330° rotatable display and supports inch/metric measurement. Functions include ZERO/ABS, 2-point preset, data hold, error alarm, low-battery alert, function lock and GO/NO-GO tolerance judgement with upper and lower limits.
For inspection data collection, the gauges provide Digimatic SPC output and can connect using Mitutoyo SPC cables, USB Input Tool Direct or U-WAVE-T wireless connectivity through the appropriate cable.
The included 177-319 setting ring provides the reference for setting the gauge before measurement. The 568-969 is supplied as a complete unit set, making it suitable for inspection environments where dedicated gauges are preferred over interchangeable measuring heads.

Who This Product Is Best For
The Mitutoyo 568-969 is suitable for machine shops, engine rebuilders, heavy-equipment workshops, hydraulic service companies, compressor maintenance teams, oil and gas service operations and quality-control departments working with large internal bores.
Typical applications include engine cylinder bores and liners, gearbox and axle housings, compressor bodies, pump housings, large bearing seats, valve bodies and large bushings.
The complete unit configuration is useful when multiple bore sizes within the 3–4" range are inspected regularly and operators need dedicated gauges without changing interchangeable measuring heads.
How to Use / How It Works
-
Select the appropriate gauge
Use Mitutoyo 568-472 for 3.0–3.5" bores or 568-473 for 3.5–4.0" bores. -
Set the measurement reference
Use the included 177-319 setting ring to establish the reference value according to the gauge and setting procedure. -
Set tolerance limits
Enter the required upper and lower limits when using the GO/NO-GO judgement function. -
Measure the bore
Operate the snap-open lever, insert the measuring head into the bore and release it so the three contact points self-centre against the internal surface. -
Check multiple positions when required
Measure at different depths and orientations when checking for taper or ovality. -
Record the result
Use the data-hold function for manual inspection or transfer readings through the Digimatic SPC output using compatible connectivity accessories.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is included in the Mitutoyo 568-969 set?
The set includes two complete digital Borematic gauges, models 568-472 and 568-473, plus setting ring 177-319.
