 Product Description

The Mitutoyo 568-475 is a dedicated Series 568 Borematic bore gauge for measuring large internal diameters from 4.5–5" (114.3–127 mm). It is designed for applications such as heavy diesel engine rebuilds, compressor servicing, industrial pump maintenance, large gearbox inspection and heavy-equipment repair.

Its three-point self-centring measuring system uses TiN-coated measuring contacts to provide stable internal bore measurements. The contacts can reach close to the bottom of blind holes, making the gauge suitable for a range of deep internal measurement applications.

The 568-475 provides .00005" (0.001 mm) resolution and ±.0003" (±6 µm) accuracy. Its electrostatic capacitance ABSOLUTE encoder helps retain the origin without over-speed errors. The 8.5 mm LCD features a 330° rotatable display, while inch and metric units can be selected according to the inspection requirement.

For quality-control workflows, the gauge includes ZERO/ABS, 2-point preset, data hold, error alarm, low-battery alert, function lock and GO/NO-GO judgement with user-set upper and lower tolerance limits. Digimatic SPC output allows measurement data to be transferred for digital inspection records and SPC software.

The snap-open lever allows the operator to squeeze, insert and release the measuring head during measurement. A matching setting ring is sold separately and can be used to establish the reference before inspection.

 Key Benefits

  • Dedicated 4.5–5" (114.3–127 mm) measurement range for large internal bores.

  • Three-point self-centring measurement helps provide consistent readings.

  • ±.0003" (±6 µm) accuracy with .00005" (0.001 mm) resolution.

  • ABSOLUTE encoder helps maintain the origin and prevents over-speed errors.

  • 330° rotatable LCD with 8.5 mm character height for convenient viewing.

  • GO/NO-GO judgement supports user-defined upper and lower tolerance limits.

  • Digimatic SPC output supports measurement-data collection.

  • TiN-coated contact points reach close to the bottom of blind holes.

  • Snap-open operation supports repeated bore measurements.

  • Function lock helps prevent accidental setting changes.

Who This Product Is Best For

The Mitutoyo 568-475 is suitable for heavy diesel engine rebuilders, heavy-equipment service teams, mining and construction equipment workshops, compressor overhaul teams, industrial pump service companies and oil and gas maintenance operations across Saudi Arabia and the GCC.

Typical applications include heavy-duty cylinder liners, compressor bodies, industrial pump casings, large gearbox housings and large bushings.

It is particularly useful where a specific large bore range needs to be measured repeatedly during rebuilding, maintenance or quality-control inspection.

How to Use / How It Works

  1. Set the reference: Place the gauge in a matching 4.5–5" setting ring, sold separately, and establish the reference using the ZERO/ABS and preset functions.

  2. Set tolerance limits: Enter the required upper and lower limits when GO/NO-GO judgement is required.

  3. Measure the bore: Operate the snap-open lever, insert the gauge into the bore and release it so the three-point head self-centres.

  4. Check multiple positions: Take measurements at different depths and angles to assess the bore size and identify dimensional variation, taper or ovality.

  5. Record the result: Use data hold for manual recording or transfer readings through Digimatic SPC connectivity.

Frequently Asked Questions

What bore range does the Mitutoyo 568-475 cover?
The 568-475 measures internal diameters from 4.5–5" (114.3–127 mm) and supports inch/metric operation.

How accurate is the Mitutoyo 568-475?
The stated accuracy is ±.0003" (±6 µm), with a resolution of .00005" (0.001 mm).

Does the 568-475 include a setting ring?
No. The matching setting ring is sold separately and is used to establish the reference before measurement.

Is the Mitutoyo 568-475 sold as a complete Borematic set?
The 568-475 is an individual gauge. The Borematic complete sets cover smaller ranges, so the 568-475 is intended as a dedicated gauge for the 4.5–5" range.

Can the 568-475 measure blind holes?
Yes. Its TiN-coated measuring contacts can reach close to the bottom of blind holes.

Does it support GO/NO-GO inspection?
Yes. The gauge supports user-set upper and lower tolerance limits and provides GO/NO-GO judgement with a zoom display.

Can measurement data be transferred to SPC software?
Yes. The gauge provides Digimatic SPC output and can be connected using SPC cables 905338 or 905409, USB Input Tool Direct 06ADV380F, or U-WAVE-T through the appropriate connecting cable.

Which Borematic gauge covers the smaller range?
The Mitutoyo 568-474 covers 4–4.5", while the 568-475 covers 4.5–5". The Mitutoyo 568-473 covers 3.5–4".
