Product Description
The Mitutoyo 568-474 is a dedicated Series 568 Borematic bore gauge for measuring large internal diameters from 4–4.5" (101.6–114.3 mm). It is designed for applications where a specific large bore range needs to be checked repeatedly, including diesel cylinder liners, compressor bodies, large bushings, gearbox housings and hydraulic cylinder barrels.
Its three-point self-centring measuring system uses TiN-coated contact points to provide stable internal bore measurements and reach close to the bottom of blind holes. The gauge provides .00005" (0.001 mm) resolution and ±.0003" (±6 µm) accuracy for controlled dimensional inspection.
The 568-474 uses an electrostatic capacitance ABSOLUTE encoder, helping retain the origin without over-speed errors. Its 8.5 mm LCD has a 330° rotatable display, making readings easier to view from different inspection positions. Inch and metric units can be switched as required.
For production and quality-control workflows, the gauge includes ZERO/ABS, 2-point preset, data hold, error alarm, low-battery alert, function lock and GO/NO-GO judgement with user-set upper and lower tolerance limits. Digimatic SPC output allows measurement data to be transferred using compatible SPC cables, USB Input Tool Direct or U-WAVE-T connectivity.
The snap-open lever allows the operator to squeeze, insert and release the measuring head during inspection. A matching setting ring is sold separately and should be used for setting and mastering the gauge before measurement.

Who This Product Is Best For
The Mitutoyo 568-474 is suitable for diesel engine rebuilders, heavy-equipment service teams, compressor and pump maintenance companies, gearbox repair workshops and power-generation maintenance teams across Saudi Arabia and the GCC.
Typical applications include measuring diesel cylinder liners, compressor bodies, large gearbox housings, hydraulic cylinder barrels, large bushings and other machined components with internal diameters within the 4–4.5" range.
It is particularly suited to inspection environments where the same large bore range is measured repeatedly throughout a shift.
How to Use / How It Works
-
Set the gauge: Use a matching 4–4.5" setting ring, sold separately, and establish the reference using the gauge's ZERO/ABS and preset functions.
-
Set the tolerance limits: Enter the required upper and lower limits if GO/NO-GO judgement is required.
-
Insert the gauge: Operate the snap-open lever, insert the measuring head into the bore and release it so the three-point head self-centres.
-
Check multiple positions: Measure at the required depths and positions, such as the top, middle and bottom of the bore, to evaluate dimensional variation, taper and ovality.
-
Record the result: Use the data-hold function for manual inspection or transfer the measurement through Digimatic SPC connectivity.
Frequently Asked Questions
What range does the Mitutoyo 568-474 measure?
The 568-474 measures internal diameters from 4–4.5" (101.6–114.3 mm) and supports inch/metric operation.
What is the accuracy of the Mitutoyo 568-474?
The stated accuracy is ±.0003" (±6 µm), with a resolution of .00005" (0.001 mm).
Is the setting ring included?
No. The matching setting ring is sold separately and is used to establish the reference before measurement.
Does the 568-474 use three-point measurement?
Yes. The gauge uses three-point contact with a self-centring measuring head for internal bore measurement.
Can the 568-474 measure blind holes?
Yes. The TiN-coated measuring contacts are designed to reach close to the bottom of blind holes.
Does it support GO/NO-GO inspection?
Yes. The gauge supports user-set upper and lower tolerance limits and provides GO/NO-GO judgement with a zoom display.
Can measurement data be transferred to SPC software?
Yes. Digimatic SPC output can be used with compatible cables such as 905338 and 905409, USB Input Tool Direct 06ADV380F, and U-WAVE-T connectivity through the appropriate cable.
What is the difference between the 568-473, 568-474 and 568-475?
The main difference is their measuring range. The 568-473 covers 3.5–4", the 568-474 covers 4–4.5", and the 568-475 covers 4.5–5".
