Product Summary

The Mitutoyo 568-465 Borematic bore gauge measures .650–.800" (16.51–20.32 mm) internal bores with a self-centering three-point measuring head. Its snap-open, one-handed operation makes it suitable for checking piston pin bores, cartridge valve cavities, pump bores, sleeves, and other precision components. With ±.00025" (±5 µm) accuracy, .00005" (0.001 mm) resolution, TiN-coated contact points, GO/NO-GO judgement, and SPC data output, it supports fast in-process inspection.  Product Description

The Mitutoyo 568-465 Borematic bore gauge is designed for fast internal diameter inspection where measurements need to be taken directly on the machine or workshop floor. Its .650–.800" (16.51–20.32 mm) measuring range covers applications such as piston pin bores, connecting-rod small ends, hydraulic cartridge valve cavities, gear pump shaft bores, compressor components, and thin-walled sleeves.

The snap-open design allows the operator to squeeze the lever, insert the measuring head into the bore, and release it so the three contact points self-centre on the diameter. This one-handed operation helps reduce handling time and makes it practical for checking a component before it is unclamped from a machine.

The gauge provides ±.00025" (±5 µm) accuracy with .00005" (0.001 mm) resolution. The LCD display uses 8.5 mm digits and can rotate through 330°, allowing the reading to be positioned toward the operator.

An electrostatic capacitance ABSOLUTE encoder maintains the measurement origin for the battery life and supports unlimited response without over-speed errors. TiN-coated measuring contacts can reach close to the bottom of blind holes, helping with deeper internal measurements.

The gauge supports GO/NO-GO judgement using user-set upper and lower limits, along with a judgement zoom display. Measurement data can also be transferred through Digimatic SPC output using compatible SPC cables, USB Input Tool Direct, or U-WAVE-T wireless connectivity.

For deeper bores, the optional 150 mm extension rod 952621 can be used where applicable. A matching setting ring is sold separately for setting and verifying the gauge before measurement.

The Mitutoyo 568-465 is positioned between the 568-464, covering .500–.650", and the 568-466, covering .800–1.000". The 568-966 complete set combines the relevant Borematic sizes for a wider .500–1.000" measurement range.

Key Benefits

  • .650–.800" measuring range: Measures internal diameters from 16.51 to 20.32 mm.
  • High measurement accuracy: Provides ±.00025" (±5 µm) accuracy for precision bore inspection.
  • Fine resolution: Displays measurements with .00005" (0.001 mm) resolution.
  • Three-point self-centering: Contact points automatically centre inside the bore for repeatable readings.
  • Snap-open operation: One-handed squeeze, insert, and release action supports quick measurements.
  • On-machine inspection: Check bores before removing components from the machine to reduce unnecessary setups.
  • Blind-hole capability: TiN-coated contact points extend close to the bottom of suitable blind cavities.
  • 330° rotatable display: Position the LCD toward the operator for easier reading.
  • ABSOLUTE encoder: Retains the measurement origin and avoids over-speed errors during rapid movement.
  • GO/NO-GO judgement: Set upper and lower limits for fast pass/fail inspection.
  • SPC data output: Transfer measurement results for quality records and statistical process control.
  • Inch/metric operation: Switch between inch and millimetre measurement units.
  • Optional extension: 150 mm extension rod 952621 is available for applicable deeper measurement requirements.
  • Long battery life: Uses one SR44 battery with approximately 5,000 hours of operation under specified conditions.

Who This Product Is Best For

The Mitutoyo 568-465 is suitable for CNC machinists, engine rebuilders, hydraulic valve manufacturers, compressor service teams, precision engineering workshops, and maintenance departments in Saudi Arabia and the GCC.

Typical applications include:

  • Piston pin and connecting-rod small-end bores
  • Hydraulic cartridge valve cavities
  • Gear pump shaft bores
  • Compressor component inspection
  • Thin-walled sleeves and precision bushings
  • Internal diameter inspection after machining
  • In-process bore checking before unclamping
  • Workshop quality control and SPC measurement

How to Use / How It Works

  1. Prepare the gauge: Use a suitable .650–.800" setting ring, sold separately, to establish the measurement reference.
  2. Set the origin: Master the gauge against the certified setting-ring dimension and perform the required zero/origin setting.
  3. Set tolerances: Enter the upper and lower limits when using the GO/NO-GO judgement function.
  4. Measure the bore: Keep the component clamped where required, squeeze the snap-open lever, insert the measuring head, and release it.
  5. Allow the head to centre: The three-point contact system self-centres inside the bore for the measurement.
  6. Read the result: Position the 330° rotatable display for convenient viewing.
  7. Record the measurement: Hold the reading or transfer data through compatible Digimatic SPC, USB Input Tool Direct, or U-WAVE-T equipment.
