The Mitutoyo 468-279 solves that with three self-centring anvils spaced at 120°, which locate on the bore automatically and measure the true inside diameter across a 9-10" (228.6-254 mm) range. The contact points are TiN (titanium nitride) coated for durability and impact resistance.
